Fibromyalgia
The American College of Rheumatology first proposed the current criteria for defining FMS (Fibromyalgia). The diagnosis requires that all three of the major criteria and four or more of the minor criteria be present.
Major Criteria
- Generalized aches or stiffness of at least three anatomical sites for at least three months.
- Six or more typical, reproducible tender points.
- Exclusion of other disorders that can cause similiar symptoms.
Minor Criteria
- Generalized fatique
- Chronic headache
- Sleep disturbance
- Neurological and psychological complaints
- Numbing or tingling sensations
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Variation of symptoms in relation to activity, stress, and weather changes.
- Depression.
It's reported that only 2% of the population meet all of the criteria. This estimate is too low. There is help. Call us to find out how.
